Bleeding from gastroesophageal varices controlled by band ligation

Tuesday 15 December 2009, Branislav Kunčak, M. D.

Band ligation (EVL) is an option for the treatment of bleeding from gastroesophageal varices GOV 1. Small GOV 1 varices, not extended far down onto the lesser curveture of the stomach may be treated with EVL. Treatment with tissue glue is a method of choice for control of actively bleeding large gastroesophageal varices.
