Granular cell tumor

Thursday 01 January 2009, Branislav Kunčak, M. D.

Granular cell tumors of the esophagus.

They are usually asymptomatic and found incidentally on EGD. White-yellowish firm nodul is their typical endoscopic appearance. Diagnosis can be in majority of cases established by endoscopic biopsy of the lesion. EUS can provide additional information. Resection of the lesion is indicated only if the tumor is symptomatic or is greater than 1 cm or has atypical features.
