Thrombosis of internal hemorrhoids

Friday 10 July 2009, Branislav Kunčak, M. D.

Thrombosis of internal hemorrhoids: is a complication of hemorrhoids (clotting of internal hemorrhoids). Patients with thrombosed internal hemorrhoids usually report pain. They can be effectively treated conservatively (bedrest, analgesics, sitz baths, suppositories). Potential complication are gangrene, ulceration and bleeding which require antibiotics and sometimes also surgery (clot can be excised or drained, ..).
